Sunrise

On the shore in the crisp light of dawn: the water and sky are more inviting than the beach. So I leave the sand behind and face the wind.
The clouds seem to have a mind of their own and I could only guess the sun. Hmmm... So it's a game? Let's play!

And just when I thought the golden light would come and stay...
 ..poof! It went away!
It was a difficult (and spectacular) coming back under the heavy clouds...

...and it looked like a big game of hide and seek.
The dazzling daylight came not as a victory, but rather as a sign that the game has ended.
The show is over.

Till tomorrow!

Slow

Time to slow down...
 Breath deeply.

Take in every moment, every sound.

Let the snails take over!

Today I...

Today I...

:: hear - kids tweeting around me on the beach
          - the waves
          - the bells tolling

:: touch - thick pages of a book so many love

:: smell - the sea

:: feel - the wind in my hair
         - the sand under my feet

            - the warmth of the sunset on my face

:: see - soft shadows all around me

:: hum - "I've got the sun in my heart and my heart in the sun..."

:: discover - unknown corners of my heart

Off for a new adventure

Because it smells like summer holiday already.
Because learning doesn't always belong to school (does it ever?!).
Because it's already been too long since the last time.
Because I want to be lulled to sleep by waves.
Because the sunrise became again an important moment in my days.
Because there's a hunger of wide open spaces in all three of us.

We're off for a new adventure!
So we're at home for a while...right here.

No plans

Paris with no plans can seem surprising, to say the least. Even so, it was true.

Getting there was the plan. But also that was where the planning stopped.
Getting out of the house was a must. But checking a long list of "to do" and "to see" in a new place was never appealing to me.

So there I was: ready to roam the streets, curious about my own reaction at the city I avoided in my trips for so long, ready to be mesmerized if that should ever happen, ready to try different local things.

Miles after, hours later, with my head spinning and my heart full, all I wanted was to curl up on the sofa.

The remains of the day... of my first day in Paris.
Here's to many more!

Reading out

...out seems to be quite a series of activities: eating out, getting out, staying out.

Well, why not "reading out", for a change?

Friday night mood

When late at night becomes early in the morning, when four moms and friends get together in an attic, when singing and dancing is mandatory, then you may get an inkling of spring and joy...

Their rhythm, my heart

"Let's take a walk", they said, and I believed them for half a second. Enough for me to say a quick yes. And only then I've seen the twinkle in their eyes...

It's been snowing for a couples of hours, but it's still warm for this time of year. No crispy snow under my boots, no snowmen in the backyard. Still, this could become interesting for me too.

I take my camera hoping to get nice pictures of the trees, hoping to learn more about it (and to step out of the automatic mode I use when I'm in a hurry...ahem) and glad to be out of the house without a reason. For a WALK, or so they said.

But when I reach the park with the giggling squirrels, they spin around a few times and become...rabbits! And they are fast.

As for my walk?  Well, it'll have to wait. My photo experiments also.

 A change of rhythm? YES.
With all my heart.

The Eve before the Christmas Eve

We're at the end of a few very busy days, filled with joy - yes, and excitement - true,
but also
long hours spent in crazy traffic, long lists of "to do"-s, things that turn out ... their own way (which is not always the right way).

So at the end of the day - before the big day - I find myself under the tree, listening to the soothing sound of two kids sleeping and sipping my African tea.
Yeah, I know that this is a Christmas gift that I'm knitting and it's supposed to be due in a day or so. And I know I've only knitted 2 inches of it (and it's supposed to go around the neck and over the head...), but I take a deep breath.

And the time stops for a moment.

"Tomorrow is only a day away."

The loser takes... the pictures

Rehearsing carols, baking and chatting were the most important things to do around here these days. Oh, yes,  and playing...
Playing chess (not so often) , playing memo (every single day!), playing tangled monkeys (don't even try to imagine what that is), Playing Halli Galli, means that I have to put on hold whatever I'm doing - you know, that grown up stuff that ordinary people do before big celebrations - and pay attention to the game.

Some knitting had to be done, but only possible on slow games. (Ahem...)

Some phone calls were answered but only on speaker because otherwise I couldn't hold my cards right.

Some shopping lists were made  bending low under the Christmas tree. Careful not to write on the back of the game cards!

And at the end of the game...I still loose!
"Don't worry, Mom, you've still got your pictures!"
Right...
